Shoring

What is shoring and how does it affect the way in which homes are constructed?

Generally GCSP performs Shoring for basement digs where the structure is relatively close to the property boundary and the sides of the dig do not have space to be adequately/ safely battered.

Shoring is the construction of a temporary structure to support temporarily an unsafe structure. These support walls laterally.

They can be used under the following circumstances:

  • When walls bulge out
  • When walls crack due to unequal settlement of foundation and repairs are to be carried out to the cracked wall.
  • When an adjacent structure needs pulling down.
  • Where soil ( in walls) does not have the necessary strength to hold up on its own

Why is Shoring Important?

Our sytem of shoring involves very little vibration when compared to more traditional methods.
